The boys basketball program at Southfield Christian will have a new head coach next season. Head Coach Josh Baker has recently accepted a position to join the basketball staff at the University of Alabama. Baker has made an incredible impact on the Eagles basketball program since taking over the reigns in 2011. In his eight seasons the team has gone 181-30, with a 97-1 conference record and 8 MIAC conference titles. The Eagles currently hold an 82 game winning streak in conference play dating back to January 2013. In the MHSAA postseason Baker’s teams have won 8 district titles, 6 regional titles, played 11 games at the Breslin Center and have won 5 state titles (2012, 2013, 2014, 2018, 2019).
The search for a new head coach will not go far as longtime Assistant Coach Clennie Brundidge as been tabbed to take over. Brundidge has been an assistant at Southfield Christian for 7 years after previously serving as an assistant at Southfield High School and Troy High School. During the 2013-14 season Brundidge served as the acting head coach leading the Eagles to a program best 26-1 record and the school’s 3rd straight state title. In Brundidge’s 1st year he will face a similar task as the 19-20 Eagles team will look to win it’s 3rd straight state title.
