Multiple Teams · 2019 Spring Sports Awards Recap

The boys track & field team led a successful spring for Eagle Athletics by having their best finish in school history, finishing as the 2019 State Runner-up.  The track program sent 21 athletes to this year’s state meet with 7 of them earning all state honors.   Junior Dubem Amene was the 400 meter state champion winning in a season best time of 49.75.  Junior Chris Davenport would finish as the state runner-up in the long jump with a school record jump of 21’3.75″ while finishing 5th in the 100 meter.  The Eagles would finish as the state runner up in 3 relays with the 800 Relay (Senior Zach Johnson, Junior Austin Little, Freshman Bryson Glenn, Davenport), the 1600 Relay (Little, Senior Eric Wagoner, Davenport, Amene) and the 3200 Relay (Little, Senior Kameron Terry, Wagoner, Amene) all finishing 2nd at the state meet.  Amene would break one of the oldest Eagle track records from 1978 running the 800 meter in 1:55.95 to finish 2nd at the Oakland County Championship.  The state runner-up 1600 meter relay team would also break the 1986 school record by lowering the time to 3:28.91.

The baseball program captured their 2nd consecutive conference title this year while the softball team captured their 1st conference since 2016.  The softball team showed tremendous improvement in winning the conference after not winning a conference game in 2018.  The Lady Eagles Soccer team shows incredible promise for the future as they fielded a team this year with 12 freshman and sophomores that look to return next year a more veteran team.  Lastly, freshman golfer Kris Matthews qualified to play in this year’s MHSAA Regional golf tournament.  Congratulations to our athletes on a great spring.
