This year’s hall of honor inductee is Chip Huber from the class of 1986. Chip was a 3 sport athlete at Southfield Christian who earned 9 varsity letters in soccer, basketball and baseball. He captained all 3 teams and earned team MVP and 1st team all conference honors in each sport. Chip earned all state honors in soccer and baseball and he excelled in soccer finishing his high school career with 29 goals and 13 assists. Chip would go onto play soccer at Bethel College where he was a 4 year starter and a 3 time captain and all academic all conference player. After college Chip returned to Southfield Christian to teach and coach before moving on to Wheaton Academy in Illinois for 14 years as the Dean of Spiritual Life. While at Wheaton, Chip served as the head varsity soccer coach leading them to 2 state finals appearances. Chip is currently the Associate Vice President for Student Development and Athletics at Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids. He is the founder of the “Night of Nets” initiative which has partnered with over 65 high schools and colleges to help end malaria in Sub-Saharan Africa by providing over 35, 000 bed nets to families over the past 8 years. Chip and his wife Ingrid have two children, Olivia and Trey. Congratulations to Chip Huber on his 2019 Athletic Hall of Honor induction.
