Head Varsity Volleyball Coach Mike Van Dyke will be stepping down from the varsity volleyball position and will be taking over the middle school volleyball program next year. Van Dyke has led the Lady Eagle Volleyball program over the past 9 seasons with an overall record of 176-134-18. When he became the volleyball coach in 2011 the program was coming off one of it’s worse seasons and Van Dyke’s 1st season the Eagles were only 4-27. Each year under his tenure the Eagles show steady improvement. The Eagle volleyball program over the last 5 seasons has had 20 or more wins each year, 5 MHSAA District Titles, the programs 1st 3 MHSAA Regional Titles, 2 MIAC Conference Titles and the programs 1st 2 MHSAA State Semifinal appearances. This last season’s 29 wins is the 5th most in school history with the 1988 team winning the most games in program history with 37 victories. The Southfield Christian Athletic Department is grateful for Coach Van Dyke’s leadership in running the volleyball program the past 9 years and we look forward to his continued impact in future years as he continues to teach Physical Education/Health at the school and developing the next generation of volleyball players at the middle school level.
